It was so bloody unreliable. Games only worked about 33% of the time.

Maybe that's why they switched to optical media (CDs and DVDs). More reliable than cartridges.

Nintendo tried to sell the NES using the Atari name, but Atari refused.

probably why atari went sdo unknown. isn't atari bankrupt?

They collapsed, were sold to another company, then Infogrames bought it, then Infogrames decided to call themselves Atari. http://www.atari.com - Atari (was Infogrames)

wow. thanks! i knew atari was still around but never figured out how. always gfigured they went the way of sega.

NES is a great system. I played it for years...NES then N64 then Xbox
